We Treat Patients of All Ages!
Birth to Three
The human brain develops more rapidly during the first three years of life than at any other age. A child's environment, experiences, and development during this time can affect the rest of their life.
This is when a child builds the majority of their vocabulary, learns basic social skills, and begins communicating wants, needs, and ideas in a variety of ways. Therapy is used to address this growth and assist in filling any gaps in a child's development.
Three and Up
By the age of 3, a child's brain is already 80% the size of an adult's brain. From the age three into early adulthood, speech and language therapy typically focuses on articulation, reading and writing comprehension, problem solving, and higher-level language skills.
Adulthood
As we age, health often becomes an issue. Some people may suffer from strokes, dementia, heart disease, progressive diseases, or sustain traumatic brain injuries (TBI) that leave a lasting impact on speech, language, communication, and feeding skills.
Speech therapy during this time of life is geared towards maintaining, improving, and accommodating for skills that were lost or forgotten due to the effects of aging.
